This is the first book by Schuler that I picked up, and I became an immediate fan. It took me a year to work through the entire program, but I did it! (I'm not quite a goddess, yet, but I'm definitely stronger!) What I really appreciate is his very careful attention to the science. He includes references in the back, and he's not afraid to say when he's made mistakes in the past and how our understanding of the science has changed over time. I feel like I'm getting real information and not snake-oil for the desparate, like so many fitness and diet books seem to be. I think this book is intended for the new lifter, but some of the moves *were* too intense for me. It doesn't mean you can't do the program, but it may require some trial and error to figure out how to adjust it to your needs. Alternately, start out with NROL for Life, which offers more instruction on modified lifts.
