With the thrills and chills of Halloween just around the corner, I certainly can't think of a much better (or more enjoyable) animated, feature film to get one into the spooky spirit of it all, other than The Nightmare Before Christmas..... This weird, warped, and wonderfully good-natured, holiday, fantasy film is a highly-imaginative tale that has "Halloweentown's" very own Pumpkin King, the ever-charming, Jack Skellington, taking on the task of redefining Christmas in order to spread joy to the world in his own macabre way..... As things inevitably turn out, Jack's well-meaning "Holiday Season" mission unwittingly puts good, old Saint Nick (aka. Sandy Claws) in serious jeopardy once that mean'n'nasty brute, Oogie Boogie, gets into the act..... The Nightmare Before Christmas is an extraordinarily entertaining tale that's filled-to-overflowing with the magic of song and the wonder of marvelous, first-rate visuals..... Constantly surprising, this film is truly a devilishly delicious treat that can be enjoyed by all ages, any old time of the year..... I don't know about you, but, I, for one, sure wish that Tim Burton's name hadn't been so prominently attached to this particular picture..... Yeah. OK. Burton did, indeed, write the original story, but, hey, it was Henry Selick, not Burton, who so brilliantly directed this delightfully eerie classic.
