Margaret Maron is such a joy to read. Her prose is tight and her characters strong. I've been reading her for years (started with the Sigrid series)and am hardly ever disappointed. For a Holiday themed book this is outstanding. She doesn't let the holiday over-run the main plot. This is a timely book as so many people are driving carelessly these days. And sadly, students are becoming more and more accustomed to death of their peers. The "villian in our midst" was fairly easy to pick out early on. I felt the ending (I may have been so tired I missed it) didn't connect all the dots for the reader who didn't catch on early. I continue to enjoy the "realism" of the main character Judge Knott (hee, hee) didn't get that for years and her extended family & friends.
