Loses marks for being slow and heavy-handed in places, but I like the respect for historical realism. Ok, I'm not a historian, so I don't know how accurate it really is, but it's miles better than Kevin Costner with an American accent and a mullet. People are poor, scruffy and dirty, and there's a lot of neat detail and historical figures, like Eleanor of Aquitaine. And I like the notion of exploring how Robin Hood might have come to be (though I didn't catch on till the end that that's what this was all about - I kept thinking, wow, this movie is going to be really long, he's not even an outlaw yet).
