I enjoyed the world building and the character development. It took me a bit to like the main character I will admit to that. At first she is this broken being left to rot in place where most people die within weeks, but she lasted nearly a year. She's this super skilled fighter, defiant, almost rude yet deeply wounded. As the story progressed and she was no longer complaining I began to appreciate the character. I like that the author has created a female character that has had relationships in her past and does not feel ashamed for any future one. All in all I liked the book enough the read the rest of the series. For those looking more for a love story check out A Court of Thorns and Roses - the first title in the authors "Beauty and the Beast" -ish series.
