Some commenters here seem to be of the opinion that every film dealing with homosexuality has to be political and carry the official LGBT seal of approval. Clearly, this is not trying to be that kind of film. But it's good anyway. Perhaps it does overreach itself in trying to incorporate too many sub-plots (gay love, coming of age, Iran politics, class conflict, etc.) but the acting, directing, and cinematography were strong enough to support the film and keep me interested. This film should appeal to anyone with a working knowledge of modern Iran. And that's a lot of people. If you don't know (or care) about Iran, then don't bother watching. And don't bother commenting. (And don't bother reading this, either.)
