Summary

Stone Barrington, ex-cop turned PI, unexplainably finds himself in Paris (France, not Texas) without a clue as to why or how he got there. Waking up in a hospital room at the American Embassy, he has, from all accounts, had four days wiped from his memory. Recovering in a hotel, he responds to two invitations that magically connect him with a circle of Europeon billionaires and various underworld characters. He and his new companions flee to America, where they are persued. The underworld target turns out to be a surprise, even to Spenser, and their motive hits close to home.
