One of Marvel's more recent big events brings together a number of writers and artists to tell the tale of the Avengers and the X-Men coming to blows (before everything drastically changes midway through). The artistic styles mesh fairly well- a rare thing with crossovers. Some of the writers, such as Jason Aaron, are far better than a couple of the others (Brian Bendis, Jeph Loeb), and it really shows- there's unevenness in the chapters of the story. The end result leaves something to be desired, though, given that a character who has been totally ethically and morally compromised for years does not get the only fate that made sense for him from a storytelling point of view: death.
