Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is a "darker" movie than Rise of the Planet of the Apes. This sequel is very different from it's predecessor, Rise of the P of A in which the apes just wanted to get to the Muir Forest. Dawn of the P of A reflects the many misunderstandings, mistrust, and hatred between humans and apes, leading to conflicts and war, paralleling prejudice and racism. Like in our society, there are also those who try to be peacemakers. More characters are developed, in particular Koba. Andy Serkis, again, shows his skill in acting the role of Ceasar. While I enjoyed Dawn, I prefer Rise of the P of A, and the one currently playing at the theatre, War for the Planet of the Apes, better.
