This is a 2001 American crime thriller directed by Ridley Scott, adapted from the novel of the same name by Thomas Harris. It is the sequel to the 1991 Academy Award-winning film "The Silence of the Lambs." Hannibal Lecter, the iconic serial killer, returns. Julianne Moore plays as FBI agent Clarice Starling---the role first held by Jodie Foster. When the novel was published in 1999, The Silence of the Lambs director Jonathan Demme, screenwriter Ted Tally, and actress Jodie Foster all declined to be involved in its film adaptation. I understand the reason because, compared to "The Silence of the Lambs", this film lacks elegance, suspense and tension. The story line as well as the depiction of the gluesome scenes are kinda disgusting and of low quality. And the last several scenes are nonsensical.
