I love murder mysteries and this is the second book I’ve read by Tana French. I liked the first one, “In the Woods”, better than this one, perhaps because I just couldn’t warm up to this book’s main character, Detective Antoinette Conway. She is clever, insightful, and determined, but also abrasive and rude, even to her partner, who puts up with it. The plot has lots of twists and turns and the author does a great job of weaving in all the details. I agree with another reviewer who said that French’s writing is something like Michael Connelly’s, as he also focuses so much on the ins and outs of police work. I will definitely be reading her other books.
