So I came upon this book because it was recommended by one of The View co hosts.. stating this was a chick lit and for those that wanted a lighter read than a political book. When I hear the term chick lit.. I'm thinking Sex and the City, Bridget Jones Diary, even Confessions of Shopahlic... books about fun, romance and a serious tint mixed in. This book didn't have any of that, it was a very dark book. I think had the co host on the View explained that this was a darker book and not for those wanting a light hearted read, I might have come to this book with a different mindset. With that said, it does capture the awkwardness of trying to fit in, trying to keep up with the Joneses, and also showing that sometimes the past comes back to haunt us when we try our best to out run it.
