Lockdown

a Novel of Suspense

One of my favorite authors, so I hate to say that this really let me down. Other than a brief appearance by a character from another book, this was tedious. Every chapter has a new narrator--and many of the chapters are less than a page. It was a scattered story line and hard to follow, and the twist was, at best, lame. It felt as if she had merely collected her old short stories and tried to fit them together into a novel because she had no new ideas. It seems it felt obvious to her as she made a great point of that NOT being the case in her acknowledgements. This might be okay for young teens (middle school) with short attention spans but I would recommend it not be read without parental supervision and input. As usual, however, the characters were well developed, interesting and unusual.
