Surely one of the dullest stories ever filmed: a week in the life of a man whose days are so monotonous and unemotionally deadpan that changing his brand of matches stands as a highlight. He tediously documents trivial events and observations with poetry, but his poetry is truly boring. And, the fleeting wisps of irony injected into the story are too few and far between to be chuckle-worthy. If the poetry had ever risen above meaningless, then Jarmusch might have had a story to tell.
