Never has a book angered me so. I put it down a couple of times, but then picked it up again, because I'm a big fan of Mr. Coupland's work, and I needed to trust that wherever he was taking me would be worthwhile in the end. So I feel that I put up with a lot: shallow, unlikeable characters, plot manipulation so improbable it that borders on the absurd, recycled gags, a surfeit of scatological humour, etc. It reads like a story cobbled together from the more distasteful bits wisely edited out of his previous works. A gratuitous plot twist at the very end of the book caused me to slam the book shut in anger. Never will I go back to finish the last three pages of the book. Never, I say!
