How many times did you watch a movie that reunites two giants of the screen?
Putting together Al Pacino and Robert De Niro in one movie was an inspired idea, and must have taken a lot of work in itself.
The results can be vividly seen in this Cops & Bandits genre movie.
Actually, this film goes far beyond the simple genre movie and can be compared to some of the best Film Noir movies with Humphrey Bogart.
Except for the length, at over two hours, this movie moves fast, even in its dialogue scenes.
There is never a dull moment. Very competently directed and structured, the story flows like a river, smooth and fast.
There is tenseness, and many subplots that involve the entire cast, giving to each a full life and a motivation to do what they are meant to do.
There is no arbitrary judgment on who's bad and who's good.
All characters have good and evil sides, just like in real life people.
