Pride and Prejudice is well-known classic written by Jane Austen. The story explores Elizabeth Bennet and her four sisters as they navigate life in the English countryside. The main conflict in the story arises from the encounters of Elizabeth and a prideful man named Fitzwilliam Darcy, The novel explores themes of love and marriage while providing witty and intelligent commentary on daily life in that period. I listened to Pride and Prejudice on audiobook, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Austen's writing keeps the readers engaged, and the characters she has written are each compelling in their own way. I thought the dynamic between Mr. Bennet, Elizabeth's father, and Mrs. Bennet, her mother, was particularly amusing. However, at times, the book did drag due to excessive commentary and months of no forward movement in the plot. All in all, Pride and Prejudice was a treat to read and anyone can see why it is considered a classic.
